just out of curiosity, can the dlc be installed independently to a steam retail version & still work?

playing through the game, it hangs to a black screen after defeating the 2 waves of enemies at the beach. unsure if it is this release or perhaps specific to certain systems because i couldn't find anything on this even on the gog boards. you can hear the bgm but it stays on black screen
