how to get the controller to work?

it should work by default and be preconfigured for x360 pad. if you have another pad type you need to open the emulator (dolphin.exe) and go to controllers and set the controls to your controller. good luck. I cannot support any further.

can any other user confirm if 360pads work for them or not please?

yes it is a xbox pad

please try this repack if xbox pad does not work. I use wired generic x360 pad, not x0ne or other pads, maybe they are different?
